Catalyst gained his powers through illicit experimentation in the genetic and chemical labs of the Cornelius/Krieg corporation, a multinational pharmaceutical corporation. Catalyst began his career as a covert agent of the corporation, kidnapping Dr. Jeremiah Duncan, who had access to an experimental drug known only as XD-3. Catalyst was later captured by Blue Beetle II. (Blue Beetle vol. 2 #14, 15)
After a brief stint with the corporate super-team known as the Captains of Industry, Catalyst began working for the world-conqueror/terrorist Kobra. (JSA #11, 12)
+ Powers
Catalyst is an Olympic-level athlete and a superb combatant. Catalyst is a human drug arsenal, capable of inducing the effects of any drug he wishes into the body of anyone he touches. Examples include truth serum (Sodium Pentothol) and tranquelizers (Valium).
