Mister Miracle II

+ History
The New God, Scott Free, was born 300 years ago to the ruler of New Genesis, the Highfather and his wife Avia. But instead of growing up on this paradise, Scott was used as a bartering tool to prevent war between New Genesis and Apokolips. To this end, two rulers agreed to exchange their own sons. Darkseid's son, Orion, came to live with Highfather, and Scott was sent to live on Apokolips. Under the evil tutelage of Granny Goodness, Scott grew into a master escape artist and secretly worked with Himon, a freedom fighter. It was during this time that he discovered an awful truth that he was the bearer of the Antilife Equation! This equation is Darkseid's dark grail, the one thing which can control all life in the universe. By uttering a scant few words, Scott accidentally killed hundreds of people. From then on he dedicated himself to ensuring he would never use the Equation again. Scott never told anyone about his "gift" and he eventually escaped to Earth in 1798 with the help of his future wife, Big Barda. (Orion #25) He fell in love with his adopted planet and would forever split his time between Earth and New Genesis.
Several years after assuming the stage career of "Mister Miracle" the esape artist, he joined the new Justice League. (Justice League America #1, 5.87). His manager Oberon also signed on, serving as the JLI's administrative assistant. Scott was captured by the villain Manga Kahn and secretly replaced with a robot duplicate. The real Mr. Miracle was forced to headline the "Miracle Mister" Universe tour. (JLI Special #1) This duplicate was destroyed by Despero (#39, 6.90), and a funeral was held for Scott. (#40) The true Scott Free soon returned (#42) but remained only a short time more with the JLI. He resigned after a battle against one of General Glory's old enemies. (#50) Though he had begun to train a replacement (Shilo Norman, Mr. Miracle III), Shilo never joined the League (he did assist them on the previously mentioned mission, however). Mr. Miracle left Earth with his mother-in-law, wife, and father for New Genesis. (Mr. Miracle, v.2 #28).
As ever, he soon returned to Earth. This time he freed JLA members Fire, Wonder Woman, and Obsidian from possession by the Source. After the death of his father, Scott was expected to succeed him as ruler of New Genesis. Scott had dreaded this day and defied common law. He refused to go through the ceremony which would bestow him with his god-power. What he could tell no one (not even his wife) was that he feared any situation where he might eventually be tempted to use the Antilife Equation. (Fourth World #12) Instead, he and Barda returned to Earth. (Mr. Miracle v.3 #1-2, 4-5.96) He immediately realized his responsibility and embraced his heritage; he inherited his god-power and became the bearer of the Alpha energy the antithesis of Darkseid's Omega Energy. (#3) But he did not become ruler of New Genesis. Leaving that task to Takion, he and Barda took up a temporary residence aboard the Justice League Refuge. The couple underwent a brief separation due to Scott's lack of consideration for her feelings. (#4-5) He left Earth after one case with Oberon's Miracle Workers, Inc. service to search for New Genesis. (#7) Scott's wife and brother, Orion, returned to the JLA for a short time, but Scott did not join them. (JLA #17-41)
Orion eventually discovered that Scott possessed the Equation, but the secret remains between them. Orion also possessed the secret for a time but was able to divest himself of the knowledge. (Orion #25) Scott currently resides on Earth with Barda and they are active in adventuring.
