30th Century Omega Men

Reportedly, Keith Giffen had envisioned a grand finale to the end of his Legion, vol. 4 run. He has been quoted, saying that the pre-Zero Hour Legion was "the one story I wish I could have finished up right." He intended to reveal the SW6 Legionnaires as the real Legion, while the adults would be revealed as clones. The creators had planned a "hat trick": where the writers would randomly select some characters (as if drawn from a hat) to die in a massive battle involving both Legions against a common enemy. The adult team would then leave United Planets space and call themselves the Omega Men, getting their own book.

Omega Futures, the 30th Century

I think there is tremendous potential in the DC Universe for a book set in deep space. I have my own thoughts about how the Omega Men might be today (you can see my own paintings on the splash page of this site, and in some of the member profiles).

I envision a Vega now at peace, but not without it's own domestic problems. I'd like to see the core Omegans now as diplomats and leaders (not unlike Marvel's Inhumans). I would re-introduce the L.E.G.I.O.N. (and perhaps Lobo) alongside the Omega Men, bringing together a logical alliance in deep space DC. Kalista is Queen of Euphorix; dedicated to Primus' memory, she is a respected voice througout Vega.

She's troubled, though. She wears versions of Primus' former uniforms. Upon the Omegans' return from the Invasion massacre, she did in fact try to clone her fallen teammates (Primus, Felicity, Ynda and the Green Man). But like the First Citadeller before her, the experiments yielded imperfect results. Felicity was successfully cloned, but is now a hollow, emotionless shell. In guilt, she keeps Felicity as her closest attendant, caring for her like a daughter. The clones of the others failed. To finally succeed in this endeavor, will she risk an alliance with Psion science?

Also... When the remaining Omegans return the Green Man's remains to Uxor, they're met with the unexpected. Broot continues to serve his people as liaison to the new Vega. His wife is returned at last to Changralyn, but is dying from radiation poisoning. Harpis recovered from her condition, but changed physically. Nimbus was freed from Kulaq. Artin uses a variety of forms, humanoid and cybernetic; considering their previous symbiosis, could Artin hold the key to Primus' revival?
