Miscellaneous • Batman • Detective Comics • World's Finest Comics
If you can't afford Golden Age comics, how can you ever hope to read the stories referenced in the Golden Age Batman Chronology? Fortunately, quite a few of Batman's past adventures have been reprinted over the years in various formats, from the 80 Page Giants and Annuals of the mid-sixties to the more recent hardcover Archives series.
The following is a list of all the Golden Age stories that have been reprinted to date. As discussed elsewhere in the chronology, the question of where the line should be drawn between the Golden Age and Silver Age adventures of Batman is not an easy one. For the sake of completeness, this list includes reprints of all Batman stories prior to the introduction of the "New Look" Batman in May 1964, with the exception of Batman's appearances in the post-1955 Superman books and adventures as a member of the Justice League of America (which are inarguably Silver Age stories). Therefore, just because a story is included in this list, it is not necessarily part of the Golden Age canon or part of Earth-Two continuity.
This index also lists Golden Age solo adventures of Alfred and Robin, and the smattering of reprints of Silver and Bronze Age stories in which the Golden Age Batman and/or Robin appeared.
Stories with titles listed in [brackets] originally were untitled; the titles shown are for reference only.
This list is alphabetical by comic book title, and includes credits as best as I have been able to determine.
Reprints in italics are comic book issues. Reprints with titles underlined are general books. DC's reprint series (Chronicles and Archives) are neither italicized nor underlined. All books listed herein were published by DC Comics unless otherwise noted.
Acknowledgment: The author would like to gratefully acknowledge the work of Bill Jourdain, who put together an earlier list of Batman reprints on his Golden Age Batman page back in 2000-2001. Bill's site also has a great galley of Golden Age Batman covers.
