FIRST APPEARANCE: All-Star Comics #3 (Winter 1940)
List of Members
This membership is for the Justice Soceity of New Earth (that of the current, post-Infinite Crisis DC universe).
There are several membership anomalies:
-
Red Tornado I: Though sometimes depicted as a member, the original Red Tornado was never granted official membership in the JSA. She did appear briefly at the Justice Society's first meeting in All-Star Comics #3. Misleading depictions of her as a member began appearing in Silver Age stories. Since her comeback, no one has referred to her as a member.
-
Miss America: She was the post-Crisis replacement of the Earth-2 Wonder Woman. Her status as such has been in question since Hippolyta also assumed that status.
-
Hawkgirl I: She is first introduced as a member in Justice Society of America v.2 #1. David Goyer, co-author of the 1990s JSA series, said online "Our position is that Hawkgirl was indoctrinated into the JSA at some point — we've just never seen it." (1 November 1998)
- Johnny Quick: Creators of the second JSA series had intended to integrate Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle into the JSA, but the series was cancelled before that. They both appear in a DC promotional ad for the series, but Liberty Belle never appeared in a story.

the current Earth-2).

Infinity, Inc. Membership
Infinity, Inc. was a group of Justice Society successors (children and inheritors) who first appeared in All-Star Squadron #25. The team formed over the course of an epic adventure (Infinity, Inc. #1-10, "The Generations Saga") led primarily by the original Star-Spangled Kid. Its original membership included Power Girl, Huntress, Fury, Silver Scarab, Northwind, Nuklon, Jade, Obsidian and Brainwave Jr. This team was created in pre-Crisis continuity and was based on Earth-2. In this Crisis, the Huntress was killed and removed from the resulting universe's continuity.
Subsequent recruits included Dr. Midnight, Hourman II and Wildcat II.
Later, the team was entrusted with the guardianship of one of their foes: Mister Bones, a chain-smoking, skeletal super-crook with a cyanide touch; he became a de facto member of the team and eventually joined, too. Stripesy, Skyman's former partner, became the team's mechanic. Associates included Skyman's private eye girlfriend, and Solomon Grundy, Jade's pet monster.
Their history is covered in Part 7 of the JSA Chronology. Many of Infinity's members went on to join the Justice Society. But in general, the Infinitors were all destined for tragic fates.
Infinity's legacy was carried on by Lex Luthor, of all people, who bought the rights to the name from Sylvester Pemberton's estate. Read their tale in the Cosmic Teams section.
